At 5.11, we don’t just build gear; we build readiness. Our story began on the rugged face of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, where a revolutionary pair of climbing pants laid the foundation for a brand defined by grit and resilience. Named after the highest level of climbing difficulty at the time, 5.11 represents the point where the challenge meets your absolute limit. Today, that same spirit drives us to engineer purpose-built apparel, footwear, and gear designed to navigate the most demanding environments on Earth.

Who Are We?
We serve those who run toward the challenge, not away from it. From tactical professionals and first responders to outdoor adventurers and fitness enthusiasts, our community demands absolute reliability when the stakes are high. We work hand-in-hand with professionals in the field to ensure every stitch, pocket, and fabric choice serves a clear, functional purpose. If it doesn’t enhance your speed, safety, or accuracy, it doesn’t make the cut. Our mission is simple: Always Be Ready. Life is unpredictable, but your gear shouldn't be. Whether you are on duty, training at the gym, or exploring the backcountry, we provide the tools you need to face the unknown with absolute confidence. We invite you to gear up, push past your limits, and embrace the mindset of readiness with us.
5.11 is the pioneering, purpose-driven brand making purpose-built
gear for those who demand more of themselves, for the greater good.
Everything our customers do and everything we do for them is exponential.
The more self-reliant they are,
the more they can be relied upon.
The more strength they build,
the more they can protect others.
The more they answer the call of service,
the more they respect others who serve.
The more we listen, field-test, design, build, and optimize, to help them be ready for anything,
the more they can live a life bigger than themselves.
That’s the Always Be Ready® mission of a lifetime.
